As with any trip preparation, it can be hard knowing what to bring. If the hunting expedition is to be successful, it’s important that nothing is missed. This article has been written to identify the key things you need to bring along. 

Visual Equipment

Your Weapon

This will not only depend on your budget, but also on what you are hunting. Check the rules of your local state. They will clarify the weapons permitted. Some can only be used during limited seasons.

Ammo

A line of ammo may be perfect for someone who needs to watch their money.

If you're going to be doing lots of cooking, bring along some metal pans, a cutting board, and some condiments. Also remember to take paper plates and towels, and plastic cutlery. You may also need cooking oil and seasoning. When packing beforehand, make sure you create a comprehensive grocery list. 

First Aid Kit

This could include headache tablets and medication for digestive issues. Take some bandages, chapsticks, and hand sanitizer. Try and anticipate the potential issues (e.g. insect bites, burns, or scratches) and bring along the relevant meds. 

Duct tape can be a solution for a number of issues, including leaky tents. 

Adequate Lighting

When it comes to tracking your prey, many people use flashlights. The benefit of wearing headlights would be that you’d free up your arms. 

Bring some flares because they could be a literal lifesaver, and they’ll work in most weather conditions. 

Suitable Clothes 

Not only will they have to be hardwearing, but they should also be quick drying. Heavy clothes will only slow you down if you start to run after an animal. Take rainwear with you; some camping cagoules can be stored in small pouches. Make sure it’s breathable, though, or you could become very sweaty wearing it. 

Other items to not forget are socks, caps, and gloves. You’ll need boots, but make sure they are not too heavy for running. 

General Equipment

Other assorted items could include a portable grill and protective equipment (including vests). Have a map or GPS system with you, along with game carriers and decoys.
