‘Gilmore Girls’ Searches Soar 286% Following Cheeky Mention at Eurovision Song Contest
Analysis of Google search data reveals that searches for "Gilmore Girls" soared by 286% in the UK following a cheeky mention during the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest finals on Saturday night.
The analysis shows that searches for "Gilmore Girls" nearly tripled the average search volume in a single day, based on Google search data.
During Saturday night's Eurovision Song Contest, co-host Petra Mede announced that in addition to the Eurovision 2024 trophy, the winner would also receive a DVD box set of season three of "Gilmore Girls."
Despite Eurovision Song Contest winner Nemo accidentally breaking the trophy, they can still take home their DVD copy of "Gilmore Girls" season three.
Steven Ellis commented on the findings:
"While 'Gilmore Girls' originally premiered in October 2000 in America, the American drama has resonated with viewers worldwide. Many fans, particularly in Sweden, appreciate the relationships depicted between mother and daughter, Rory and Lorelai Gilmore.
"This surge in interest in the show may prompt older fans to revisit it and introduce younger viewers to its charm."
