How Well Do You Know the Three Main Aspects of a Growth Mindset?

It's time to shatter the myth that talent is enough to achieve a growth mindset.

No, it is not valid in the modern world!

You also need hard work, skills, motivation, willingness and the right mindset

You follow a fixed mindset if you don't believe in these concepts. Remember, without these concepts; you can't get what you dream. So if you want to make your dreams come true, you must adopt the concept of a growth mindset. To know this powerful concept, I have curated this article discussing the meaning, definition, powerful words, examples, signs, and principles relevant to a growth mindset.

First Aspect: Understanding the Meaning of a Growth Mindset

A growth mindset is not any new concept, and you are much aware of it. The simplest meaning of the growth mindset is converting your basic abilities to your strengths through continuous growth, dedication, and efforts. A growth mindset always seeks development without considering the severe impact of the challenges, failures, and setbacks. Even if someone is weak in a particular skill, they have passion for the same. Such people use their self-esteem to convert that weakness into strength. This is called a growth mindset.

One of the most popular definitions of the Growth mindset is shared by Carol Dweck, a famous human psychologist. The definition says,

In a growth mindset," people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work – brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment.

The definition highlights that it is possible to improve any skill with continuous improvement. But, you have to keep patience, put effort into, and evaluate your progress to make this happen.

Be resilient, challenger and risk-taker to become from ordinary to great!

Second Aspect: Knowing the 5 Signs of a Growth Mindset

Do you want to check your current state of mindset, whether growth-oriented or not? Read the following points:

  • You don't have fear in embracing challenges, risks, and failures

  • You have the persistence to come back from continuous setbacks in the life

  • You take constructive criticisms positively and extract learning from every critic

  • You always put your efforts, time, and energy to cross the path of becoming pro from basic

  • You love to cherish the success of others and prefers to find inspiration, lessons from them and their stories

These five points indicate that your thoughts are growth-oriented. One sign enables you to develop other signs. Sometimes, having the presence of one sign can also take a person towards growth. So, reflect on yourself to discover any of these signs in your thinking, activities, or beliefs.

Examples

History has various examples and famous names who had a growth mindset. These examples embraced challenges and failures before hitting success. In these examples, JK Rowling is one of the best examples of following her growth mindset. She is an inspiration for everyone who gave up after two to three failures.

This is a story of a famous person. Because before the success of her first book, "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in 2001, she faced 12 rejections from different publications. But, she did not give up and learned from her mistakes. This learning behaviour empowered her to publish a series of 8 books and win the hearts of every age group.

Let me share my example: I also had some limited beliefs a few years ago. I had never thought that I would lead any writers, but I did it. I never thought that I would set goals in life. But I set goals and achieved them. I rewrite the goals to get the things I deserve and want in my life regularly. I have been converting my weaknesses to strengths to make it happen.

We all have such stories where we break our limiting thoughts and grow ourselves every day.

We can also follow certain everyday activities to develop a growth mindset. I am sharing some principles which are most often considered as activities. The reason to call them principles is that the word principle is more potent than activity.

You all know that principles have been used in almost every area, and everyone follows them to get certain things in that area. So, if we call them principles, it definitely might be beneficial. Here are five major principles:

  • Never hesitate to try new things and explore yourself

  • Always believe in learning, unlearning, and re-learning

  • Adopt the attitude of gratitude, appreciation, and forgiveness

  • Be agile in developing yourself through feedback & criticisms

  • Only positive thinking won't work; integrate it with realistic thinking

I have pointed out five significant, result-oriented, and practical principles. These are easy to follow in any area where we want to grow ourselves. Thus, follow it if you're going to move onto the ladder of success!

Use these powerful words while moving on the ladder!
